DUBLIN (A.A) - Turkish Foreign Minister Ahmet Davutoglu paid a visit of courtesy to Irish President Mary McAleese as his part to Ireland. McAleese is expected to visit Turkey by the end of March. Davutoglu will partake in a dinner to be hosted by Turkish Ambassador in Dublin Altay Cengizer in his honor later today. (UK)
ANKARA (A.A) - Turkish lira slightly weakened against U.S. dollar on Wednesday as one U.S. dollar traded at 1.5380. Istanbul Stock Exchange (IMKB) main index dropped 0.39 percent. IMKB National 100 Index was down by 206.96 points and closed at 52,753.00. A total of 38 kg of gold was sold in the first and second sessions at the Istanbul Gold Exchange (IAB). International credit rating agency Fitch said possible political uncertainty could have an impact on Turkey's credit rating upgrade. Turkish Statistical Institute (TurkStat) announced that quarterly industrial employment index decreased by 6.8 percent in the fourth quarter of 2009 (October-November-December) over the same quarter of the previous year and by 0.1 percent over to the previous period. ANKARA (A.A) - The Turkish Cypriot president said on Wednesday that relations between the Turkish Republic of Northern Cyprus (TRNC) and Turkey were in the best level in their history. TRNC President Mehmet Ali Talat said two countries were enjoying the best relations in their history because relations were based on not only brotherhood ties but also on joint policies. "We do not have any problems,'' Talat told reporters after his meeting with Turkey's Agriculture & Rural Affairs Minister Mehdi Eker in Ankara. Talat said TRNC was carrying out an active policy to solve Cyprus problem. "Our policy aiming to integrate to the world should be maintained in order to bear result, and we should not interrupt this integration process," Talat said when commenting on presidential election in TRNC due on April 18. Talat also said Ankara was sincere and willing about settlement of Cyprus controversy. (BRC-A)
